A lovely read for those who interested in books, bookstores, typography, secret cult-like clubs, mysteries, funny characters that could only come out of the city, San Francisco, programming, and the intersection of the traditional and contemporary.

Mr. Penumbra’s was thoroughly enjoyable. Some plot points and clues were spoon-fed to readers, but that might make the novel more accessible to younger readers. Sloan writes with a lot of passion and interest in, which comes through loud and clear. Would recommend.
